A Love of Photography…

I started taking photos when I was in middle school. In high school I jumped on the photography band wagon in school. I loved it so much that I arranged my Senior year schedule to include four hours of darkroom time. I attempted to go another route in college, but ultimately was pulled back to photography. I went on to get a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts with a concentration in Photography. I’ve been shooting, and evolving my work ever since.

My style is a mix of lifestyle/candid and posed images. I love to direct a bit, but ultimately love to capture people simply being themselves. I personally don’t think that a great portrait requires a face, or someone looking into the camera. I definitely capture the traditional portrait images, but love to fill in the gaps and capture life with a more candid approach.

This space is also a personal lifestyle blog about building a good life in the middle of raising a family. I am a mother of three and a portrait photographer, my writing explores motherhood, photography, homeschooling, natural-ish living, homemaking, creativity, and life on 15 acres in Kansas. I talk about the beautiful things, the unfinished things, the things that don’t go according to plan, and the ordinary moments that become precious simply because we noticed them.
